Horseback Riding
Trot through miles of open range, lose yourself in Aspen forests, explore the Colorado Trail, join us working cattle or let us teach you how to ride. Rides are diverse and customized according to your riding skills (and the weather, we are in the Rockies after all!) Our horses are gentle and experienced and we will help you choose one to suit your abilities.
Our wranglers are expert horsemen and you may also catch them breaking and training new horses. You are welcome to watch, ask questions and learn.
Lodge Room and Suite rate includes 1-2 hour ride per day, or a lunch ride. If you are staying at the cabins or tent camp rides are $40.00 per hour per person.
Gold Medal Fly Fishing in Colorado
Some of the best river and lake fishing in Colorado is found here, with the South Platte providing depth and breadth to Antero, Spinney and Elevenmile Reservoirs. Tarryall Creek fills Tarryall Reservoir as well. This is public fishing on private land which is limited to 2-3 anglers per day and the Gold Ribbon Waters are only 20 minutes away. Let us organize a day on the river for you with those who know the best kept secrets of the area: Brekenridge Outfitters. (www.breckenridgeoutfitters.com - 877 898 6104)
Opportunities to fish on the property include Jefferson Creek, Baker Lake, and Horseshoe Lake which are all full of trout who are just waiting to put up a fight. Take your morning cup of coffee outside at dawn and cast a line in Horseshoe Lake from your front porch. Show your kids the thrill of a strike at the end of their line (they may keep two fish to cook up for dinner!). Head up to Baker Lake and loose yourself in the forest's tranquility, or better yet, completely disconnect yourself and stay in one of lake side tents.
Lodge Room and Suite rates include fishing. If you are staying in the Family Cabins or Tent Camp, fishing is $20.00 per person per day. Rod and tackle rental is not included.
Please note that you may only fly fish and catch and release with barbless hooks on Baker Lake. You may cast fish with barbless hooks on Horseshoe Lake and keep up to two (2) fish (between 14'' - 17".)
Hiking and Biking in the Rocky Mountains
There are endless opportunities to get out and explore our 3,600 acres on bike or on foot. There are miles of trails in the Pike National Forest, along the Colorado Trail and down the Tarryall Valley, taking you through the aspen groves and willows, up to historic Baker Lake and all throughout the meadows and creeks where the views are absolutely breathtaking. Wildlife abounds-elk, mule deer, coyote, badger, hawks, eagles and many bird species. Maybe you will spot the elusive mountain lion. So let us pack you a lunch for a day of adventure and exploring.
Bring your own bike or rent one of our new Specialized mountain bikes. Bike rental is $20.00 per hour. Guided tours are also available.
Boating on Private Waters
Come take a paddle around one of our two ranch lakes. Horseshoe Lake is 19 acres and situated between the main lodge and cabins with a breath taking view of the mountains in the back, a great place to paddle boat, canoe, row boat, or just relax after a ride or hike. Baker Lake is a historic site up and around the aspen groves amid the rocky cliffs on the north side of the property. This is a nice quiet spot to take the family for a picnic and an afternoon boat or swim surrounded by wildflowers and mountains.
Boats and equipment are available, just ask one of our friendly staff.
Pasture Golf
There is an idyllic western pastime we affectionately call Pasture Golf. Grab a beer at sunset and head outside for a round and a laugh.
If you are staying at the Lodge pasture golf is included. If you are staying at the Family Cabins or Tents ask our staff to set you up with some clubs and golfballs for only $10.00
